PROFITABLE Rams

Collinsville offered and sold 500 rams at the 2025 on property sale, with a top price of $44,000 paid for Lot 2, Collinsville Lustre 240422, purchased by Collandra Stud, Tumby Bay SA, and an overall average of $1852.

Included in the sale were 30 specially selected stud rams, selling to the top of $44,000 for the Poll Merinos (Lot 2) and a top of $21,000 for the Merinos (Lot 13) – average of $8,250.

George Millington, Collinsville Stud Merinos, said the team were thrilled with the sale result given the tough season in South Australia.

“Prior to about four months ago, we’ve had nearly the lowest rainfall across all three mid north properties since our records began 120 years ago – it’s been a challenging season to get the sheep up and today’s result is a testament to the team.”

“We’re really happy with where we’re going in our breeding direction and whilst we’re excited about the future, we’re always striving to breed that little bit better while paying homage to our past and what we’ve done previously.”
